As most of you are aware, RGNS.com was essentially down for a couple of months. Long story short, the problem was that RGNS.com had become too large and exceeded the SQL server space that was allocated to us by the host. Unfortunately, that host was not able to provide us with the additional server space we required so we moved the entire site to a different host. At the same time, we have rebuilt the site completely.
We are using a newer version of the same software package so the new site has the same basic look and feel that you are familiar with; however, there are some significant enhancements as well as some subtle changes in the way some features function. There are also some major changes with the new site.
One of the most notable changes is that all forums, blogs, photo galleries, etc. are now exclusive to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School alumni. The separate forums and other features that were available for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School parents, faculty/staff and students have been discontinued as the school's new site is now offering similar services. These features may be brought back in the future if there is a demand for them. RGNS faculty/staff members, RGNS parents, RGNS students, and other friends of the school, may be eligible for an "Honorary Alumni" membership. Honorary Alumni memberships will be considered on an individual basis. We are, of course, continuing to provide features such as the GapCam™, our weather station, news and other information of interest to the community at large.
All RGNS alumni will need to register again. Unfortunately, we were not able to carry over user names and passwords from the old site so all user names and passwords created prior to November 15, 2008 are no longer valid. To create a new account you will need to visit the registration page by clicking "Join" in the upper right-hand corner of this page and completing the form for creating a new account. You must register with your legal given name for verification purposes; however, you are permitted to change your display name to a nickname or other alias once your account is active. Please be sure to read the "Services Agreement" thoroughly before accepting it. There are some significant differences between the one you must agree to now and the one you agreed to on the old site. If you have questions about it, please do not hesitate to email us. Once your account has been approved, you will be granted access to additional areas of the site (usually within 24 hours).
We will be detailing additional changes and enhancements with the site in the "Public Forums" on the forums page. These forums will be viewable by all site visitors; however, they will be a "read only" forums and you will not be able to post in these forums so if you have questions about something, you will need to email us or send a private message. Answers to many questions can be found on the Frequently Asked Questions page.
